Imaginarium Art (IA) released their 1/4 huge Hulkbuster  for pre-order last week and it pretty much sold out in the first 24 hours.

So IA did not need to throw in any extras.

But fan asked for a Switch out Jack Hammer hand and what does IA do?

They delivered!

Imaginarium Art making Galactus

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Everyone now knows that Imaginarium Art (IA) is not shy about making statues of huge proportions. Their Aquaman was gigantic (96 cm to the top of the trident) and then their Hulkbuster is a total beast (80cm to the highest point), but now they’re making a character that there is no doubt ever that he should be made as big as possible.

Lets us give you some background on the creator of my favorite Hero (the Silver Surfer).. Ladies and gentlemen we give you Galactus!!!

Back in around 2010-11 Giorgio Comolo was commissioned to produce some artwork of Galactus. While they were not to be used in any comic book, I have been seeing them all over comic forums for the past few years with fans trying to find out which story the artwork related to. Then more recently on statue collectors groups since the increased popularity of the throne pieces, suggesting this would make an epic piece.

So I have to say I was delighted when I received a message from my friend Danny Lim asking if I knew anymore information about the artwork. I was able to tell Danny all I knew and got in touch with Giorgio to introduce them.

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
The artwork seems to depict Galactus with an Aztec style to him. Almost looking like he is actually a statue of worship, but I believe it is Galactus in more of a hibernation state. Awaiting to be awoken.

IA have said that the piece will be around 80cms to the highest point. If this is like any of the previous pieces I have seen of theirs it will be solid and weigh a ton. You will honestly need to set aside a corner of your collection room for this badboy.

From the interest already on social media I believe this will sellout quick just like their Hulkbuster which pretty much sold out of it’s 500 edition size it 2 days of pre-orders going live.
[/av_textblock]

[av_hr class=’default’ height=’50’ shadow=’no-shadow’ position=’center’ custom_border=’av-border-thin’ custom_width=’50px’ custom_border_color=” custom_margin_top=’30px’ custom_margin_bottom=’30px’ icon_select=’yes’ custom_icon_color=” icon=’ue808′]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
So what should IA do to make this statue special?

I believe that IA should stick to the design with the Artwork, but add the iconic Galactus purple and pink colors to it. Make it  battle damaged and worn over the years of slumber. I also think the IA should work with the Artist to product a print to go with the statue. I do not think it should be an ‘exclusive’, but that the print should go will all of the sold pieces.

From what I can see it will look like IA will stick to an edition size of 500. This is the Edition size of their Aquaman and of their Hulkbuster (who I honestly believe they could have made double of these).

As much as I would love to see an ‘exclusive’ small silver surfer to go with this or a collection of the Heralds of Galactus I feel that every time these have been attempted they have come out really tacky looking (Sideshow Maquette and Sideshow Legendary Scale Bust).

If you have any ideas to what could be done to make this extra epic send an Email to Alex@raddtitan.com (subject Galactus) and I can pass it on to IA.

Radd Titan Face/Off-Sabretooth

[av_heading tag=’h3′ padding=’10’ heading=’Sabretooth – Old vs New – Classic vs Modern’ color=” style=” custom_font=” size=” subheading_active=” subheading_size=’15’ custom_class=”][/av_heading]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Geoman here!!!

So peeps we are going to start a ‘piece vs piece’ or ‘classic vs modern’ or even ‘old vs new’.

No matter how long you have been in the collecting game you will eventually come across a common conversation about the old school (giving a shit) Sideshow era vs the corporate powerhouse that now doesn’t care about its people or the collector Sideshow (not what I agree with, but a common and boring conversation now)

Whatever your flavour opinions are like arseholes and we all have them!!!

We plan to use this page as a comparison of not only Sideshow, but all companies pieces, character choices and preferences of where your/our money should go (obviously we will throw our two-pence in too lol)

I will be starting this debate on the recent Sideshow variant game, whether it’s a genius money making scheme or them being lazy bastards. There is no denying this is no flash in the pan and we have had numerous characters revisited, revamped, redone basically and some only subtly in some cases.
Anyway on with the character in question!!!

Sabretooth aka Victor Creed is a super-villain from Marvel comics and X-Men fame and the arch nemesis of the fan favourite, Wolverine.

One of my favourite villains of all time being that he is not only in touch with his animal instincts but he actually welcomes the savagery as opposed to Wolverine’s more suppressed beast in the basement.

I think my favourite part of this characters history is the fact he kills a loved one of Wolverine’s every year on his birthday. (Who writes this class)

Back on track!!!

The original piece released by Sideshow was not without its faults or criticism as we all know pyjama gate?!?

The body although big and powerful (more like open season comic) was underwhelming due to its lack of muscular definition we have all come to expect from Sabretooth!!

I love the face sculpt and paint on the regular edition and for me it can’t be topped and the sculpting on the gloves is masterfully executed from Sideshows gore group!

The base is fantastic and the animal wolverine skull and maple leaves scattered on the Canadian mountains is a great touch!!

Oh and the gold print underneath the base  is one of the best I have seen too lol!!

So to be honest I love the original and score it a good 7.5 out of 10 overall!!

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Now for the new one…..

For a start its smaller!!!
How you ask as its practically the same sculpt?

Well I am going with a smaller base and a slight change of angles!!

I love the heads sculpts but that’s a dead heat as there near enough identical to the original exclusive!!

I love the snowy base but not more than the original so deduction there then!

I love the body sculpt more but I still feel he is not vascular enough or as shredded as I wanted plus the Pom Pom uniform was never my favourite!!

The claws on the hands are amazing but what the fu%# happened to his feet?!?!!

Is it their position and shape or those nails? I don’t know but wow I am not a fan!!

With an addition size of 750 for the ex this piece feels like a test the water moment as the original does not go up much in price on the secondary market and is not considered a masterpiece by any means!!

[/av_one_fourth]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Verdict…..

If you haven’t guessed by now I am sticking with the original which is a shame as I am buying the brown wolverine which is the counter part of this new Sabretooth!!

Was it the base? No!
The feet I hear you ask? Ummm no!
It was the lack of significant change! No real switch outs or improvements on the body sculpt or base plus that uniform and limited chance of major re sale profit…….. Easy pass I afraid!!

Let’s hope I am not wrong…. Again!!

Peace

Over at Radd Titan we was given this news last week, but promised we would keep our lips sealed till more information came out (hard to do), but now the cat is out the bag we can share what we know.

So at the  Zbrush summit 2015 conference images were shown of an Alien design Sideshow have been working on.

They did not give any information to the scale, but over at Radd Titan we know 🙂

The pose shown is called the “Jesus pose of Big Chap”. It is from H R Giger artwork and has his typically look to the alien figure and the base. With the typical pipes and mech detailing.

Radd Titan the piece would have been a Legendary Scale Figure and will be in scale with their Wolf Predator.

Normally LSF means 1/2 scale, but looking back to the Wolf remember this was a small 1/3 (but the Alien and Predator characters are a lot bigger than humans), but we are sorry to say but looking like this will be 1/5

So could still be in an affordable price range

Imaginarium Art have been making an appearance a lot lately on social media firstly with their epic Aquaman on throne piece. Which totally blew us at Radd Titan away when we reviewed this in person. Then more recently at the STGCC 2015 with there huge and amazing Hulkbuster from the Avengers:Age of Ultron movie.

Imaginarium Art do not play games when it come to the size of their pieces. Aquaman (Length 58cm x Width 55cm x Height 96cm With Trident) or Hulkbuster (Length 75cm x Width 65cm x Height 80cm). So it is no surprise to us that Imaginarium Art have announced their 1/3 DC line. Not only do fans get this great new, but to top it of IA are working with Erick Sosa on these pieces.

We are really excited to see what the team with come up with their future designs on this piece.

First of all I am thankful to Radd Titan for selecting me for interview along with many other talented minds. Well, I would say I can’t imagine myself away from art, Since childhood I used to draw. I remember some vague memories of me drawing at my father’s desk which included special editions of THE GREAT ARTISTS. One can find lot of inspiration and mindset by reading these books which I did as well, When I was 4 or 5. So for me art is not any field or line of choice. I live Art and I breathe art. When I was 18 or 19 years old MATRIX TRILOGY was believed to be the turning point of my career. I just moved away with the art and VFX behind every scene. So I decided to make my own scripts (Though they were supposed to be the short films at the start, but that never happened). So professionally I studied digital art, which included some aspects of film making , game art/design, traditional sketching (which is the core of every mind exercise I do, at least I believe in that), and of course mainly using the highly influential ZBRUSH. Now, this is where I found myself interested in. I used to see lot of great works on Pixologic website and I loved those details and art behind it, that I decided to learn it by myself, which took me 4 to 6 months initially to grab the basics of software. I developed my job portfolio (though now when I see it I feel it was very basic haha). Got some local jobs, hence, it is like a roller coaster ride for me for the initial 4 or 5 years. I was into job which includes character art for games and commercials, but like many others I was not satisfied at all with what I was doing that time. Luckily one day I got chance to

work in collectibles & toy industry. And i thank god for that.

Currently, I am involved in concept arts for games and films, Character art for games, Many collectibles pieces, out of which Deadpool is my favorite one, and I thank Xionart for giving me chance to work on that. The print pictures have been released and i think the final paint job will be a killer one on this. Well so far its good for me. Still beside all professional work i love to spend my private time on personal portfolio. I wish to work on combat scene from Matrix trilogy. With all Agent Smith clones. Of course it needs to be well directed and planned. I think will be a satisfactory and Holy grail in collectible industry for sure.

Another one would be Samurai Jack character for sure. I love him since my childhood.

Dramas of collecting

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
The last few days have been a roller coaster of emotions (from a collecting perspective). I have to say that it is not really one of the big world problems, but it is what us as collectors have to deal with.

First of all I received shipping notes for two great statues and I am really excited to add them to my collection. By coincidence they actually will pair off nicely.
[/av_textblock]

[av_one_half first]
[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
First shipping note was for the delayed Incredible Hulk Premium Format Figure from Sideshow collectibles. I have been waiting for this since I ordered back in April 2014.
[/av_textblock]
[/av_one_half]

[av_one_half]
[av_image src=’https://raddtitan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Hulk-Premium-Format-Figure-12-XL-556×375.jpg’ attachment=’1687′ attachment_size=’magazine’ align=’center’ animation=’no-animation’ styling=” hover=” link=” target=” caption=” font_size=” appearance=” overlay_opacity=’0.4′ overlay_color=’#000000′ overlay_text_color=’#ffffff’][/av_image]

Secondly I received a shipping note for the huge Hulkbuster by Imaginarium art. I am really excited for this as I feel it was the most shine out piece of Singapore Toy and Game Comic Convention 2015 (Still working on Geo so I get to keep this one, may cost me later on).
[/av_textblock]
[/av_one_half]

[av_two_third first]
[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Then while I was on the internet looking for trips to New York, as I was planning on visiting in a few weeks for New York Comic Convention. I quickly realized that the flights were pretty cheap, but the accommodation costs in NYC are insane. I searched for a few hours, before it dawned on me that I will not be going and I should have planned further ahead of time. So while sulking to myself and scrolling through social media for something to cheer me up. I managed to do a deal on a piece I have wanted for a long time. I checked the price of the piece and my bank funds… Even though this is going to be the most I have personally spent on a piece. I justified the purchase as I would spend 3 times as much if I did go to NYC. After transferring money between my bank accounts and asking my girlfriend to sponsor me till payday. The Big Chap Maquette from Sideshow Collectables will be joining my collection (yes it did cheer me up).
[/av_textblock]
[/av_two_third]

[av_one_third]
[av_image src=’https://raddtitan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/400063_press01-001-250×375.jpg’ attachment=’1739′ attachment_size=’magazine’ align=’center’ animation=’no-animation’ styling=” hover=” link=” target=” caption=” font_size=” appearance=” overlay_opacity=’0.4′ overlay_color=’#000000′ overlay_text_color=’#ffffff’][/av_image]
[/av_one_third]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Then, while I was riding the wave of pleasure for all of the great pieces I would be adding to my collection, I quickly realized that I do not have the space. I sat down and took the old fashioned approach, took out a tape measure, a pencil and paper, sketched out my room, listed my collection and measurements of my collectibles and cabinet. I even phoned Geo to ask for advice…He just laughed and provided no help at all (to be honest I would have done the same to him). I even resulted to going through the latest copy of the IKEA catalogue. It did take my mind off of the problem for a little, but it wasted 30 minutes of my time, I realized there was no cabinets big enough to encase the Hulkbuster  , that I still hate all of the new Besta range doors (bring back the Tomba!!!) and finally that I am in trouble (space-wise)!!!

So my morning of collecting drama got me thinking that these must be the issues that arise with collectors at some point and I thought I would look at what are the top 3 issues for Radd Titan.
[/av_textblock]

[av_heading tag=’h3′ padding=’10’ heading=’Money’ color=” style=” custom_font=” size=” subheading_active=” subheading_size=’15’ custom_class=”][/av_heading]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
This is a factor with most things in life. We have brought a lot of collectibles over the last few years. Geo and I have put out over 250 videos and most of them are pieces one of us have owned to give you some kind of idea. So it is not surprising that we are both under pressure form out partners to slow down.

Also, the cost of collectibles is only going up in price and at a pretty fast rate. Premium Format figures from Sideshow used to cost $299 and used to have edition sizes that were a lot lower. In this case it was seen as an investment collectors would feel that they were getting their moneys worth and also if the worse came to worse the value of the collectibles would raise over time. Currently to get some pieces in hand is costing over $1000 even before shipping and the tax and with edition sizes bumped up. Will this lead to the bubble to burst with the oversaturation of product and companies wanting their slice of the collecting market? (This is another topic we will cover on a weekly chat or a discussion on a separate post).
[/av_textblock]

[av_heading tag=’h3′ padding=’10’ heading=’Space’ color=” style=” custom_font=” size=” subheading_active=” subheading_size=’15’ custom_class=”][/av_heading]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Space is the enemy 95% of us have to deal with. Geo and I are currently very lucky and we both have assigned Man-Caves for our collections (Geo’s Man-cave…. Alex’s Man-cave). We have both utilised our spaces differently, but we both are adamant that we do not want to overload our rooms with too many collectibles and take the focus off of other pieces.

Geo has a strict plan. He has a list of the characters he is waiting for and his spaces are set aside. Geo is a naïve fool. There will always be pieces that come up that he has not considered and the other point relevant to this section… Pieces are getting bigger!! So when Geo has some spaces set a side (on top of his detolfs or to use two shelves in his detolfs) he maybe in trouble when they do not fit in the locations he has reserved.

I have he same issue really there were 2 pieces I did not have on my radar to join my collection, but then the great guys at Imaginarium Art got in touch and sent us he huge Aquaman on throne each and the even bigger Hulkbuster.. Not to mention I have about 10 pre-orders and a hulk and big chap Alien coming in the next few weeks… So I am in the process of planning out my room again…To be fair… I am pretty screwed (space wise).
[/av_textblock]

[av_heading tag=’h3′ padding=’10’ heading=’Time’ color=” style=” custom_font=” size=” subheading_active=” subheading_size=’15’ custom_class=”][/av_heading]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
The main issue we have with time is the delays from companies. Geo waited 6 months after the release dates to receive his Superman PF and I have waited an extra 9 months for my new Hulk PF. This is frustrating as the companies have our money for such a long time with out delivering a product. Especially companies like Pop culture shock who I have 10 orders with and 9 are paid in full, but I can not check the progress of my orders on their website (but that is a debate for another post).

Also when statues are displayed at conventions, but then we have to wait a year to pre-order and then over a year to actually receive them. Guess we are just impatient.

Geo is surprisingly patent with waiting for thing to be released and he does not complain as much as I would have thought about delays. He will moan about it a lot and swear constantly, but he will sit on the money till it is released.

On the other hand I am different… First of all it will not bother me so much. I will tell myself that it is for the best. The company is doing all they can to make the product to the best of their ability. Then, while I look through social media and EBay I will see a few things that I wouldn’t mind adding to my collection. I will not bite straight away. I will leave it and maybe go out for a drink with friends. Then when the right amount of alcohol has entered my blood I think about the space on a shelf and the money in my bank and I struggle not to spend. Maybe have another drink, but it does not help. It just makes me almost lie to myself and say it is a good idea. Also with Phones now having full internet access it make it even harder, Facebook post update, new eBay listing matching your saved searches and even YouTube updates saying new videos from you subscribed users. I normally crack and I am terrible as I end up buying without always reading the full description. This has burnt me in the past and I have got a lot better with it.
[/av_textblock]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Whereas there are still other factors that arise, like final products not looking like the prototypes, issues with quality control or even items being cancelled and my personal favorite or where do I put the latest art box and shipper. The above where the ones that bothered us at the time of writing and yo keep the post at a easy to read post as I know for babbling on.

If you have any topics you would like us to write about please email Alex@RaddTitan.com

Looking back on the Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention 2015 (STGCC 2015) it was great to see that companies based outside of USA are starting to make their mark in the collecting community. We all know about the great work put out by XM studios in the last few years, but now there seems there is another Singapore based company who shone at the show.
[/av_textblock]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
The first time Imaginarium Art (IA) came to my attention was with their life sized Ironman busts. They recently received praise for their huge Aquaman on throne piece, which Radd Titan was lucky enough to be given exclusive rights to review in hand (Review)

[/av_textblock]
[/av_one_half]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
I have to say that in my opinion STGCC 2015 had more on offer than the San Diego Comic Convention 2015. There was more XM studios than I can list, with their Ghost Rider, Thanos, Kraven and even their secret booths with the Star Wars pieces on show, but I think that IA had the piece of the show that stole the thunder for me (No it was not a Thor themed collectible)…. It was their huge 1/4 scale beast…. The Ironman Hulkbuster!

IA’s take on the Hulkbuster totally blew me away.. First of all the look at the size of the piece!

We all know that the Hulkbuster is bigger than the hulk himself, but the poor guy in the photograph opposite is struggling with two hands the attach one of the arms.

***I have been in touch with the IA owner Danny Lim. He asked for me to say that he would like to thank everyone for all of the questions and messages of support regarding IA’s Hulkbuster project. He has not been ignoring you, I know he has been very busy with the convention and with his recent workload.

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Over here in Radd Titan we are normally very relaxed, well I am (Alex).. Geo not so much, but I have come across a little detail that has really bothered me. Maybe more than it should, but it was actually one of the selling points of me buying the new Green Hulk Premium Format Figure from Sideshow Collectibles. Not the main point, but was a factor or me deciding to buy the piece. I am not even going into the paint issues or ill fitting heads that people are complaining about on social media till i get mine in hand.. but here is my rant.
[/av_textblock]

[av_image src=’https://raddtitan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Hulk-Premium-Format-Figure-12-XL-300×202.jpg’ attachment=’1687′ attachment_size=’medium’ align=’center’ animation=’no-animation’ styling=” hover=” link=” target=” caption=” font_size=” appearance=” overlay_opacity=’0.4′ overlay_color=’#000000′ overlay_text_color=’#ffffff’][/av_image]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Let me just rewind a little… Back in 2010 Sideshow collectibles released their line of Hulk Comiquettes. Other than the heads and the colors of the pieces being different, there was not other differences to be seen. All had the same pose, same body sculpt and all had the same base. With my order of heads going Grey, Red, Green (best to worst).

Overall the Grey (Review) and Red were pretty well executed, but to me(I believe Geo too) and a lot of other collectors the green head came out terrible and looked like Mike Tyson. Resulting in the red and grey being repainted green or even collectors commissioning artists to resculpt the hair.

My point here is that I always thought it was really lazy of Sideshow to not tweek the pose a little on these or even make some small amendments to the base. Some thing small… Anything!!!
[/av_textblock]

[av_image src=’https://raddtitan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/hulk-comi-x3-495×183.jpg’ attachment=’1688′ attachment_size=’portfolio’ align=’center’ animation=’no-animation’ styling=” hover=” link=” target=” caption=” font_size=” appearance=” overlay_opacity=’0.4′ overlay_color=’#000000′ overlay_text_color=’#ffffff’][/av_image]

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
So then when the new trio of Hulk premium formats came up on the Sideshow website I was really happy to see that the measurements were different for the Red (20″ x 20″ x 11″ and 18.5kg), with the Green and Grey at (20″ x 15″ x 19″ and 20kg).

See images below. Sorry for the size , but I wanted the text to be clear.

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Now after seeing many in hand photos of the Green and seeing the Red as Geo owns one (Review) it is clear that Sideshow have made the two pieces the same and not put the effort in making them different other than the heads.

In the original prototype photograph from before August 2015 (below left)  it is clear that there is not a plan to have the Hulkbuster hand on the base and the base does look thinner compared to images currently on the website (below right).

I think that if companies are going to make these change to the statues we order, as customers we should be sent an update and be kept in the loop. Part of me can see that with the success of the movie Avengers : Age of Ultron Sideshow could have used it to their advantage. Telling customers “We are excited to announce that now the Green Hulk premium format will come with the Hulkbuster hand to the base as a tribute…”. Sadly I feel this is not the case and Sideshow have just done this as another trick to add to the increasing tactics of saving money. Cast the same base for all, making production costs cheaper and save money 🙁

It is sad that extra was not done to make the pieces different, even after making it appear that was the case when the items went up for pre-order. I mean I would have ordered anyway, but for over a year Geo and I have been discussing that the bases are different and that it is great of sideshow to do this, not cut corners and not do the same as they did previously with the comiquettes.
I will be receiving my Green hulk in less than a week, so Geo and I will be filming a full unboxing and giving our full opinion on the piece.

Looking at the measurements on the website and an image I took from Facebook earlier today it is clear that there is not a 8″ difference in the length or a 5″ difference in the width 🙁
