It feels like a lifetime ago that Sideshow Collectibles announced their trio of Hulks to be released. The end of 2013/early 2014 we started to see previews and stories for the Sideshow Collectibles trio of Hulk premium format figures. I have to say that Geo and I were really excited to hear this news.

Then, back in early 2014 the Sideshow Collectibles Hulk trio came up for pre-order. To me I felt the previews of this piece looked very promising and I had to get a green Hulk for my collection, no questions asked! And Geo went straight in for the Red version.

The due date came and went (believe it was due as early as December 2014). Then the Red Hulk showed his face to join collections from January 2015. (Review)

The Red received a range of views from very good to very poor.. It seemed that sideshow took this on board as the green was delayed until now (17 months after it went up for pre-order).

But with rumors of Sideshow using cheaper factories, using two factories for the new green hulk (one for the head and one for the body), resulting in color mismatches and ill fitting head and even not sticking to the measurements given on the website to make the trio of Hulks appear different has been shown to be false (will cover this in another story or I will side track).

As I am waiting to receive my Green Hulk that was shipped 22nd September we will not be able to give our in hand review yet, but the views on social media have had me close to cancelling.

The constant stories of the head and body looking like they came from different factories, with heads that do not fit the bodies well, have poor joining lines and are in different colors has got me worried.

There have not really been any stories of the statue being light, but after seeing a few images of a statue that was damaged in shipping the thinness of the materials used has also sent a shiver down my spine.

It has got me nervous, but it is too late to stop Sideshow sending out the piece already. So we will see… By the the the counter reaches zero my Green Hulk should be in hand and our full unboxing should be for all to see on  YouTube..

I have to say that there are a lot of interesting pieces here and really liking how XM think out of the box with their poses and do not just go for the standard museum poses with their work.

Aquaman on throne is a huge piece that is due to be released by the Singapore based company Imaginarium Art and is up for pre-order now and due to be released first quarter 2016.

Over at team Radd Titan it is special times and we are excited to announce that Imaginarium Art contacted us a few weeks back. By the end of the conversation we had an agreement that they would send us one of  their Aquaman on throne prototypes for us to review.

To cut a long story short the piece arrived on Friday, so Geo and I arranged to meet up and do the unboxing (Geo made me wait about 5 hours from when arrived to when he got to my house, tough times 😉 )

Even after seeing a lot of photos and short videos of the piece we were not prepared for the size of the item…

The box arrived from UPS and the driver looked at me when he arrived, told me I had a delivery and then pretty much waited for me to offer to help him get the box to my house. The box was bigger than the box that my new washing machine turned up in and weighed nearly as much.

When Geo got to me we started to film our unboxing/review and quickly figured out that it was not a one man job to put together.

The parts that make up the statue, the 2 x claws, the Aquaman figure, the seat of the throne and the back of the throne all weigh individually more that some of my 1/4 scale statues.

The size and scale of this totally blew us away and too add the idea that people say with larger sized statues the detail will be lost is not true in the slightest. Going to need a bigger display as at 96cm (height) x 58cm (length) x 55 (width) it is far to big for any of me current Ikea displays.

To Finish up it even though both Geo and I have no appreciation to the character and felt this would affect how we felt towards the piece, we were quickly put in our place and could see the quality and detail that this piece has. Enjoy are review

Geo and I are both huge fans of the God of War series of video games and Kratos has to be in the top 5 for most badass characters of all time.

In the collecting community we actually already have a series of great looking Kratos statues, if it be the great looking Sideshow Collectibles Comiquette (1:5 scale) or we have Gaming Heads who have been busy releasing a good few statues 1st off the lunging Kratos (1:4 scale),  another amazing piece is the Kratos on throne (1:4 scale) comes in two variants or the life size bust again that comes in two versions.

Kratos, the “Ghost of Sparta”, is a fictional video game character from Sony Santa Monica’s God of War series, which is loosely based on Greek mythology. Kratos first appeared in the 2005 video game God of War, which led to the development of six additional games featuring the character as the protagonist. Kratos also appears as the protagonist of the God of War comic series and novels. He has been consistently voiced by Terrence C. Carson, and Antony Del Rio voiced the character as a child in God of War: Ghost of Sparta. Now we have several custom artist checking for interest in the piece and looking to make scales varying from 1:6 scale to as big as 1:3, but first off to release one of these customs is Aarón Rey Pérez with his awesome rendition of Kratos in 1:4, named “The Ghost of Sparta”.

The edition size will be 30 for fully painted pieces and 15 for unpainted kits

From the bottom of the base to the top of the figure it will be 27,5 inches tall.

The first batch of this will be available from 20th October 2015

First I was excited to see that on the Sideshow Collectibles website there was a competition to win one of these awesome pieces. So I scrolled down and was met with the section station the piece was 1:5 scale… I was so disappointed to read that after I have decided to focus on 1:4 so this would have made up my mind to pass on this piece.

Then I decided I would put the $1000+ I have saved towards. (factoring in that I would have to buy the Ledger Joker too). I decided on the Venom or Carnage comiquettes…

Then I post my findings on Facebook to my fellow collectors to get their feedback on the situation.

I then check the website to post a screen shot of this and it has been changed to 20″ and the 1:5 scale has been removed.. Sideshow was contacted via live chat and it was all a human error..

Funny to see though how quick I was will to pass on the pieces due to the scale, but back on this and Joker knowing they are the scale I am looking for. (The Venom and Carnage comiquettes will have to wait)

Will 100% be adding both of the Dark knight pieces to my collection.

If I was asked which piece would I love to have in my collection and to be made true to the original representation I would say Robocop all day long. I am the biggest Robocop fan and even though I do really like my Sideshow Collectibles 1/4 scale premium format figure, it just did not hit the mark.

As soon as Pop Culture shock showed pictures of their Robocop I knew I would order it as soon as preorder be came available as I know that Jerry Macaluso (PCS Owner) is a huge fan so he would give the piece all of his attention.

I am not a big fan of the exclusive arm (raised arm) so I actually say to people who have not ordered and are interested that ordering the regular is the way to go. I do really like the look of the Robocop figure and the detail on the base looks really great. Also the base has  a light up feature which I know will only be turned on less than 3 time a year, but it is still a nice touch.

Pop Culture Shock have made a name for themselves by bringing collectors their favorite video game and cartoon charactors. I personally own the Thundercat Liono and Mumm-ra that that sadly stopped before releasing a Panthro 🙁

Fortunatly though PCS have continued with their He-man line and hopefully if successful enough this will spark off a the Thundercat line to be started up again.

If you love the Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat video game series (and come on really who doesn’t?) then Pop Culture Shock is definitely the place to look for all of your 1/4 scale statue-video game needs.

Pop Culture Shock do venture in to other line for their statues, but it has to be their video games lines that put them on the map and kept them as one of the leaders in this field.

I already owned the Thundercats Lion-o and Mumm-ra statues released by them and had several on pre-order. I was always sold on their quality, but my partner in crime Geo-man was never sold and always claimed he would never buy or own a PCS piece. So if you remember I actually brought him the PCS Goro (to watch Goro vid click here) as a late birthday gift… This totally made him eat his word and he went on to order the Mortal Kombat X Kotal Khan.

Now let me introduce you to his next dilemma.. PCS announced Kintaro!!! Geo is going to need a bigger display haha
