I am a self-taught artist from Kent, my artwork is in the style of

pop art, I’ve always been into art from a young age, I have always loved comic books,

from superman to batman anything that has good graphics I find myself drawn to. After

many years of figuring out what direction I wanted to take my art, I found a style that I

love, pop art but with a realistic feel it, when I got into art properly the two people I

enjoyed being like were Julie Bell and Boris Vallejo and as the years went on and I found

a love for comic book art I turned my attention to Alex Ross

That’s a easy one, it was for my son, a mix of his favorite superheroes, I painted it on his

bedroom wall to keep the monsters away whilst he slept. This is closely followed by the

Hhhhmmmmmmm another good question if was going back to my Julie Bell and Boris

Vallejo days, it would have to be the vampire hugging a human, the detail and shading of

that picture is unreal, especially the detail of the snake, you almost want him to turn her.

Second would be one of Alex Ross’s There is a lot by Alex Ross I like, but the one that

stands out to me is his superman holding up a building, I’ve always wanted to put my

own stamp on that, add in a few more heroes in the background make it the twin towers, a

selection of real heroes that dealt with 9.11.

I have no idea, it would have to be what I’ve mentioned above but as I get older I’m sure

Hi, most knew me first as Spazzy, been around statue forums since 06, been collecting all my life, statues first one was 94, I have collected just about anything collectible, brother was a big collector and passed on respect for the condition of stuff at a very early age. G.I. Joe is my favorite property, but like marvel, dc, older image. Currently love toys, comic/animation art, comics but way behind, movies/tv shows and lego/kreos have grown on me with joe line.

I’m 33 born and raised in San Jose CA, moved to TX 5 yrs ago for a bigger and better house than we could get in CA, married for almost 14 years right out of marine boot camp eloped in Catalina before combat training served a few years. Have a 2 yr old daughter and fully plan to train her in the skill, already has a respect for stuff and a calm and steady hand.
Statues/collectibles, movies and family are what I live for, currently working at a mind numbingly boring job at a major mrtg company, but pays well, looking to make this hobby a full time job, been customizing/converting statues for about 3-4 yrs, kept getting asked to do stuff so why not, hopefully this yr once caught up with a massive work order list I can start working on inventory parts and full customs that I can do some cons and meet with people also planning to get my website set up and working with zbrush, I haven’t touched regular clay or sculpey since the beginning so would love to get back to it and play around with zbrush, would sure make weapons for parts easy, and I have been wanting certain statues for years that just don’t seem to get made. A lot of folks here and on other forums have been big supporters of me and dealt with a lot of my b/s that has happened the last few years, so much appreciated and once this list goes down I am hoping to get back to a decent turnaround time for new work, because right now has been crazy, which is why I took off the month.

I have been a collector for a very long time, and come from a family of artists so I always enjoyed it, but a few years ago at a boring job that had a lot of downtime I was able to learn quite a bit of this hobby, I painted kits here and there, tried my hand at comic art, but I really liked the process of sculpting/molding/casting/painting/selling and sucked up all the info I could get even practiced at work and brought in bags full of supplies. I started doing customs for myself, they sold quickly and then started taking on commissions, I still want to do my own stuff but never get a chance or it always sells before I can enjoy it, which isn’t a bad thing. Now I am pushing to get into 3d sculpting and printing, and trying to get my first convention going by end of 2016 for some more exposure, and a website as well.

I would say between my first piece Black Cat pf conversion as I learned a lot and got a huge respect for the artist in this hobby and my Baroness’ conversions being my favorite character was awesome to work on.

About three years ago I had an idea to create a line of action figures. For a number of reasons that project never got off the ground. Later I started attending several comic conventions and loved seeing the fine art statues on display. So I decided to revisit my idea from years ago, but on a larger scale.

I would like to start by Thanking you Radd Titan for the interview and for following my work, it is an honor. I started with art many years ago drawing, sketching and trying to learn as many techniques as I could, then I just stopped and decided to start studying law here in Chile. I’ve learnt, and continue learning everyday, how to sculpt by watching tons of video tutorials from YouTube and by also following the amazing work from really talented artists like Martin Canale, Steve Wang, Jordu Schell and others; This has been of great help because here in Chile there aren’t really any kind of sculpting classes; Actually, living as an artist here is pretty much almost impossible.

I’ve been painting figures since 1978. Started painting garage kits in 1987 and have written for Kitbuilders Magazine, taught painting classes at Monsterpalooza, Kurt Hammits FearFestevil and Resintopia also helped judge various figure modeler contests around the country. I was born in 1985 so as I was young a huge influence to my childhood was the original transformers cartoon, He-man, Thunder cats and GI-Joe. When I Got a little older The X-men animated series came out and I was instantly hooked. It only came on Saturday mornings so I discovered comic book stores and comic books to hold my interest in between shows. There my love of comics and Statues materialized. I bought my first statue which was a Moore sentinel series Gambit that took months to save up for. We lived in a bad area I was 70lb and looked like Harry Potter so I didn’t go out and play much. I’d stay in and draw and play with my action figures. I used artists like Jim Lee, Andy Kubert and Michael Turner to learn from and I am 100% self-taught. I was just a kid in the basement with his comic books and dream, lol.

I saw others working on and customizing statues so decided, I could do that. I started off small as I was scared to start chopping up and potentially ruining something so expensive. That quickly subsided; I showed my work and started getting commissions. I am now currently booked almost a full year out.

I also do custom Metal work, claws, swords, etc. This has become a secondary commission platform. However I handle my commissions differently from most and also will not work with everyone. The time I have to work on these projects is quite limited considering the nature of my actual career so I do pick and choose the people and projects I take on. It’s been fun and I see improvements with each piece so far. Therefore I believe everything is going well I think is been 3-4 years since I first started statue work, So there is still a lot to learn which is the part I most I look forward to.

This changes a lot but currently did a complete overhaul of the SS Red Sonja PF, including lots of mixed media and metal work all scratch built which was a challenge and very fun. It also showcases sewing, tailoring, fabrication as well as a style of painting I hadn’t done before. I like being able to do whatever a job calls for. Mixed media options and being versatile style wise I think is my best attribute.

First of all I am thankful to Radd Titan for selecting me for interview along with many other talented minds. Well, I would say I can’t imagine myself away from art, Since childhood I used to draw. I remember some vague memories of me drawing at my father’s desk which included special editions of THE GREAT ARTISTS. One can find lot of inspiration and mindset by reading these books which I did as well, When I was 4 or 5. So for me art is not any field or line of choice. I live Art and I breathe art. When I was 18 or 19 years old MATRIX TRILOGY was believed to be the turning point of my career. I just moved away with the art and VFX behind every scene. So I decided to make my own scripts (Though they were supposed to be the short films at the start, but that never happened). So professionally I studied digital art, which included some aspects of film making , game art/design, traditional sketching (which is the core of every mind exercise I do, at least I believe in that), and of course mainly using the highly influential ZBRUSH. Now, this is where I found myself interested in. I used to see lot of great works on Pixologic website and I loved those details and art behind it, that I decided to learn it by myself, which took me 4 to 6 months initially to grab the basics of software. I developed my job portfolio (though now when I see it I feel it was very basic haha). Got some local jobs, hence, it is like a roller coaster ride for me for the initial 4 or 5 years. I was into job which includes character art for games and commercials, but like many others I was not satisfied at all with what I was doing that time. Luckily one day I got chance to

work in collectibles & toy industry. And i thank god for that.

Since then I am into 3d printing and collectibles industry. Currently, I am involved in concept arts for games and films, Character art for games, Many collectibles pieces, out of which Deadpool is my favorite one, and I thank Xionart for giving me chance to work on that. The print pictures have been released and i think the final paint job will be a killer one on this. Well so far its good for me. I wish to work on combat scene from Matrix trilogy. With all Agent Smith clones. Of course it needs to be well directed and planned. I think will be a satisfactory and Holy grail in collectible industry for sure.

I’ve always been an artist of one kind or another, and I started sculpting by making the cake topper for my wedding. I went on to do custom cake toppers as a career for about 3-4 years before eventually transitioning into super hero, monster, fantasy and sci-fi statues, which is what I grew up on.
