Hi, most knew me first as Spazzy, been around statue forums since 06, been collecting all my life, statues first one was 94, I have collected just about anything collectible, brother was a big collector and passed on respect for the condition of stuff at a very early age. G.I. Joe is my favorite property, but like marvel, dc, older image. Currently love toys, comic/animation art, comics but way behind, movies/tv shows and lego/kreos have grown on me with joe line.

I’m 33 born and raised in San Jose CA, moved to TX 5 yrs ago for a bigger and better house than we could get in CA, married for almost 14 years right out of marine boot camp eloped in Catalina before combat training served a few years. Have a 2 yr old daughter and fully plan to train her in the skill, already has a respect for stuff and a calm and steady hand.
Statues/collectibles, movies and family are what I live for, currently working at a mind numbingly boring job at a major mrtg company, but pays well, looking to make this hobby a full time job, been customizing/converting statues for about 3-4 yrs, kept getting asked to do stuff so why not, hopefully this yr once caught up with a massive work order list I can start working on inventory parts and full customs that I can do some cons and meet with people also planning to get my website set up and working with zbrush, I haven’t touched regular clay or sculpey since the beginning so would love to get back to it and play around with zbrush, would sure make weapons for parts easy, and I have been wanting certain statues for years that just don’t seem to get made. A lot of folks here and on other forums have been big supporters of me and dealt with a lot of my b/s that has happened the last few years, so much appreciated and once this list goes down I am hoping to get back to a decent turnaround time for new work, because right now has been crazy, which is why I took off the month.

I have been a collector for a very long time, and come from a family of artists so I always enjoyed it, but a few years ago at a boring job that had a lot of downtime I was able to learn quite a bit of this hobby, I painted kits here and there, tried my hand at comic art, but I really liked the process of sculpting/molding/casting/painting/selling and sucked up all the info I could get even practiced at work and brought in bags full of supplies. I started doing customs for myself, they sold quickly and then started taking on commissions, I still want to do my own stuff but never get a chance or it always sells before I can enjoy it, which isn’t a bad thing. Now I am pushing to get into 3d sculpting and printing, and trying to get my first convention going by end of 2016 for some more exposure, and a website as well.

I would say between my first piece Black Cat pf conversion as I learned a lot and got a huge respect for the artist in this hobby and my Baroness’ conversions being my favorite character was awesome to work on.

I would like to start by Thanking you Radd Titan for the interview and for following my work, it is an honor. I started with art many years ago drawing, sketching and trying to learn as many techniques as I could, then I just stopped and decided to start studying law here in Chile. After a long time I stepped into Sculpting as a way to express what I loved and I had the opportunity to send some of my work to Epic Games. Doing this plus the support from my girlfriend -who paints my work – I decided to start with art again, this time as a Full time thing; since then I’ve been sculpting for approximately 3 years and everything has been like a roller coaster.

I’ve learnt, and continue learning everyday, how to sculpt by watching tons of video tutorials from YouTube and by also following the amazing work from really talented artists like Martin Canale, Steve Wang, Jordu Schell and others; This has been of great help because here in Chile there aren’t really any kind of sculpting classes; Actually, living as an artist here is pretty much almost impossible.

I really liked the recent work that I made for the magneto by XM studios, was an unmasked head that really made me happy, and also a wolverine rough sketch that I’m making between projects, using as reference the awesome work by the great Leinil Francis Yu.

Geo and I are both huge fans of the God of War series of video games and Kratos has to be in the top 5 for most badass characters of all time.

In the collecting community we actually already have a series of great looking Kratos statues, if it be the great looking Sideshow Collectibles Comiquette (1:5 scale) or we have Gaming Heads who have been busy releasing a good few statues 1st off the lunging Kratos (1:4 scale), another amazing piece is the Kratos on throne (1:4 scale) comes in two variants or the life size bust again that comes in two versions.

Kratos, the “Ghost of Sparta”, is a fictional video game character from Sony Santa Monica’s God of War series, which is loosely based on Greek mythology. Kratos first appeared in the 2005 video game God of War, which led to the development of six additional games featuring the character as the protagonist. Kratos also appears as the protagonist of the God of War comic series and novels. He has been consistently voiced by Terrence C. Carson, and Antony Del Rio voiced the character as a child in God of War: Ghost of Sparta. In the series, Kratos embarks on a series of often forced adventures in attempts to avert disaster or to change his fate. He is usually portrayed as being oblivious to all else, often engaging in morally ambiguous activities and performing acts of extreme violence. Now we have several custom artist checking for interest in the piece and looking to make scales varying from 1:6 scale to as big as 1:3, but first off to release one of these customs is Aarón Rey Pérez with his awesome rendition of Kratos in 1:4, named “The Ghost of Sparta”.

The edition size will be 30 for fully painted pieces and 15 for unpainted kits

From the bottom of the base to the top of the figure it will be 27,5 inches tall.

The first batch of this will be available from 20th October 2015

I am toy collector and I am a completist. I would like to complete my collection with the characters big companies will not produce.

From watching the LOTR movies it made me get into toy collecting. I joined toy customizing competitions on toycon and won 1st prize or 2nd prize every year. I then shifted to statue collecting when I sold all my toys.

Then started customizing pieces when character I wanted was not done properly. Normally according to comics version I grew up with.

I was reading comic books in the early 80’s, then stopped in the 90’s, then I came back reading it in the beginning of 2000 because of all this superhero movies that were caming back on big screen. It gave me the desire to read comics again…then of course I feel in this statue hobby.

First piece was in 2005. Lately I saw Kurt Alkusyl review then I really start to get mad and addicted. Then I met some awesome collectors and artists who became good friends, like MadxCollector and Xtreem scultures who inspired me to do my own private commissions. That was a new step as a collector, it is nice to have a piece that everybody has, but to have the opportunity to design something only for you, that’s a great feeling. Well I was loving the sculpting part of the hobby collecting statues, but everytime I was buying a statue , I was always un satisfy with the factory paint jobs, and the custom studios was even worst for the paint job part. I understood quickly that it was impossible that the production piece be good as the proto shown. For the simple reason that the proto shown was painted by a pro painter who was passing many houres on it, and the production was painted by many different workers in a factory. If they was passing the same time on the production piece that the proto shown, they will need 10 years to be ready. Also wasn’t fun to go in touch with the seller for some broken issues in shipping. That’s the moment I thought I need to learn how to paint, repar, and customize statues to have exactly what I want. My mother is a canvas painter so I already knew how to do what I wanted with colors. I took a few lessons with a woman who did the school of fine arts in Paris (she repairs Antiques stuff). I then met Kevin Darkspidey who became a true friend. Kevin showed me all the paint ups secret skills specific to comic books statues. I can call him Yoda lol.

My wife helped me as well, for female faces, she is a graduate from a makeup school and to paint statue faces it’s almost the same than a real woman face. That was with the help of all these people that I became a statue painter customizer.

I like to paint all the pieces that I like the same way. I refuse to paint a piece if I don’t like it. You can’t be good if you don’t like something. If I really have to choose only one I will say I enjoyed painting the Hulk Keown, sculpted by Sheridan Doose. Because Hulk is my favorite character (along with Superman).

I started to sculpt when I was a kid, drawing and sculpting have always been my passions. I’m trying to make collectible statues for the last year, because I think that it’s a great opportunity for me. So my work can be seen by lots of people around the world and not only in my country.
