What/who got you into working in this field?

About three years ago I had an idea to create a line of action figures. For a number of reasons that project never got off the ground. Later I started attending several comic conventions and loved seeing the fine art statues on display. So I decided to revisit my idea from years ago, but on a larger scale.

Where would people have seen your work?

This is my first gig as a creative director for a statue line. However the artists I’m working with have experience in this field. In particular, Gurjeet Singh created the Tali and Liara statues from Mass Effect for Gaming Heads.

What is your favorite piece you have worked on?

Ah, this is like picking a favorite child! None of the statues we’re making will ever see the light of day if I’m not 100% happy with them. That being said, I am particularly fond of how our “Tumatauenga” (in Māori mythology, God of War) statue is turning out.

What is the piece that someone else has created that you wish was yours?

Wow, there’s so much good stuff out there. I really like the Kinetiquettes Evil Ryu / Oni Akuma statues that you can put together to form a diorama. I love the individual statues and they look even better together.

What is your dream piece to be made?

I’d love to do a Luke Cage piece, maybe something with his buddy Iron Fist. I’d do it big, ¼ or ⅓ scale.

Ok tough one here.. Who would win in a fight to the death He-man or Lion-o?

Geez, tough one… I’m going to go with Lion-O. I think the sword of omens takes out the power sword eventually.
